Overview of Imperial Pu-erh
This shou, or cooked, pu-erh tea comes from Yunnan province, the place where the tea tree and puerh tea originated. Yunnan is a region in China that is known for producing excellent tea and has been exporting its tea for more two thousand years. Cooked pu-erh, like the Imperial Pu-erh, goes through a special process called “wo dui” to speed up fermentation in sheng, or raw, pu-erh. This results in less grassy and vegetal flavors, more body, and richer characteristics. Pu-erh has long been valued in traditional Chinese medicine for its medicinal benefits and this mellow and light Imperial Pu-erh is perfect for blending with other herbs.
