Customizing My Teas

How many ingredients can I add? Can I add the same ingredient more than once?

You can add up to four ingredients to your selected tea base, and you are more than welcome to use the same ingredient more than once. Please note that we only allow a maximum of four ingredients to be added as we feel any more may start to compromise on the flavor nuances of your herbal blend.

How do I know if the blend I created tastes okay?

We conduct extensive comparative tasting and quality checks to determine what teas and ingredients we offer and the amount of each ingredient to use. To help you create a tea that you'll like, we provide information on the flavor profile and aroma of all of our ingredients. Just refer to the detailed page we have for each ingredient by clicking on the LEARN MORE button while you are creating your own tea or looking at our wellness teas. When you are customizing your tea, you can also filter out ingredients based on health function and flavor profile.

How many servings are in each box or container?

Our loose leaf container will contain approximately 20 servings of your tea while our tea sachet box will contain 20 tea sachets. Whichever option you choose, you will still get the same amount of quality tea.

How can I pay for my order?

You can pay using all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB, Discover, and Diners Club) on our secured website.

Is it safe to use my credit card on your website?

Absolutely! We keep your online transactions and personal information safe and secure by utilizing Secure Socket Layers (SSL) encryption technology. For maximum security, we use a secure server that encrypts all your ordering information, including your name, address and credit card number. How do I resolve a declined payment on my credit card?

If your order is on hold due to a payment issue, there are several things you can check to resolve the declined payment. If your payment method has been declined, please do one of the following:
  • Confirm your credit card number, expiration date, billing address, and phone number were entered correctly. The billing address and phone number entered must match those associated with your credit card.
  • Check with your bank about adjusting daily withdrawal or purchase limits. Payment declines may be due to these limits set by your bank. After contacting your bank, please retry your payment method on our checkout page.

How do I qualify for free shipping?

Free shipping is available for all domestic US orders over $40 in value before taxes. For orders under $40, there will be a $5 flat rate shipping fee. We do not offer free international shipping at the moment.

How much would US or international shipping cost?

For US orders, we offer free shipping on orders over $40, otherwise we charge a $5 flat rate. All international shipping rates are calculated based on your location and the size of your order. When you enter your shipping address in our checkout page, you will be able to calculate your exact shipping costs before placing your order. You can also refer to our Shipping & Delivery page for our shipping rates.

Which locations do you ship to internationally?

We use USPS Priority Mail International, which delivers packages in 6-10 business days, from the US to more than 180 countries including Canada & the UK. For the complete list of countries, please visit the USPS website.

Can I ship to a PO Box?

Definitely! All orders placed with a PO Box shipping address will arrive via USPS.

When will my order be processed?

In an effort to maintain a fresh and continuously replenished inventory year round, all of our teas are hand blended and hand packed once we receive your order. Most orders are produced and shipped out in 1-2 business days. Large orders with numerous items may take longer but we will try our best to ship it out as quickly as possible.

When will I receive my order?

Delivery speed depends upon the shipping carrier and your location. For US orders, items will typically arrive in 1-3 business days from the shipment date. For international orders, items will arrive in 6-10 business days from the shipment date.

How can I track my order?

After you have received your order confirmation email, we will send you another email in 1-2 days to notify you that we have shipped your items. In the email, we will also provide you with a USPS Tracking Number, which can be used to check the status of your shipment via

Can I check on the status of my order?

If you have created a Purify Tea account and placed an order with us, you can log in to My Account at anytime to check the latest status of your order. If your order is marked "Processing", it means your credit card has been processed and your order is in production. If your order is marked as “Completed” it is in transit and an email has been sent with tracking information to the email address on your account.

What if I’m not happy with my order - what is your return policy?

We strive to provide exceptional customer service and the perfect shopping experience for each and every order. If you are not completely satisfied with your order, i.e. the product or packaging was damaged, the wrong item was delivered, or you did not like what you ordered, please submit a return request. We will let you know how to return or exchange your items, and how we will refund you.
You may return or exchange items with the original packaging within 30 days of purchase for either a refund or exchange. Please note that items purchased through special promotion, sales, or clearance are final sales, and are therefore not eligible for returns or exchange.

How long will it take to process my refund?

Purchases made with a credit card or debit card can be refunded to the same card within five (5) business days after we receive the returned items. If the original form of tender has been lost or stolen, we will issue a check for the full amount of the return from our headquarters and mail it to you within seven (7) to ten (10) business days.

Do I have to pay for return shipping costs?

In the event of a return that is the fault of Purify Tea (for example, the wrong item was sent), we will refund you the full amount of your order and cover the return shipping cost. In other circumstances, we will still refund you the full amount of your order but you may be responsible for the return shipping cost.

What is the caffeine content of the different types of teas?

Typical caffeine content per 8oz serving:

  • Rooibos: 0mg
  • Decaf tea: 5mg
  • White tea: 10mg
  • Green tea: 20mg
  • Oolong tea: 30mg
  • Pu-erh tea: 40mg for black pu-erh, 30-40mg for green pu-erh
  • Black tea: 50mg
  • Coffee: 100-200mg

How much caffeine are in your products?

When brewed at our recommended serving size, any variety of tea (black, green, oolong, white and pu-erh) will have less caffeine than coffee. Tea leaves naturally contain caffeine but the amount of caffeine that is transferred into your cup depends on many things: varietal, age of leaf, method of manufacture, production techniques, steeping time, and water temperature used during steeping. Because of these numerous variables, no one can tell you the exact amount of caffeine in your cup unless a caffeine counter is used immediately before you drink from it. On average, tea leaves contain 3% caffeine by weight, although this can range from 1.4% to 4.5% (or 15-60 mg per 8oz cup).
It is important to note that even decaffeinated teas contain small amounts of caffeine. If you are looking for a completely caffeine-free tea, please try our Serene Slumber wellness tea or select our low caffeine White Spring or our caffeine-free Honey Rooibos as your tea base if you are creating your own tea.

Do any of your teas contain allergens?

None of our products contain soy, dairy, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat and eggs. If you have allergies to any herbs, we recommend that you consult with a qualified healthcare practitioner before drinking tea or using any herbal products. Do your products contain any sugar or calories?

Our products contain virtually no sugar, carbohydrates or calories. For details, please refer to our Nutritional Fact tables which are available for all of our wellness teas.

Is your tea sold loose or in tea bags?

We offer our teas in both loose form or packaged in individual nylon tea sachets for convenience -- and you get to choose which you prefer. Whichever packaging you opt for, you’ll get the same high quality full leaf teas and herbs.

How do you ensure that your products are high quality?

We perform extensive comparative tasting whenever we consider adding a new tea or ingredient to our catalog. If something isn’t up to our standards, we won’t offer it. We manage our inventory meticulously so that we can deliver the freshest, best-quality teas around.

Do you use any flavoring in your teas?

No, we do not use any artificial or natural flavoring in our teas. Both types of flavors contain chemicals and are made in a laboratory by blending either natural chemicals or synthetic chemicals to create a flavor. Some natural flavors actually contain more chemicals than artificial flavors and can be unsafe to consume. Our intent is to utilize only the gentlest and most efficacious ingredients and that is why all of our products are organic and all-natural, with zero additives or flavoring.

How should I steep my tea?

Depending on the ingredients in your blend, the amount of tea per serving, the temperature of water to use, and the steeping duration can vary. We always include steeping tips on the packaging as a guideline to help you brew your tea to perfection. It's just a step by step guide to get you started, so you can always make adjustments based on your own personal taste. On average, our teas contain 3.3 grams per serving (approx. 2-3 teaspoons) and are steeped for 5 minutes at 100°C or 212°F.

What accessories do I need?

While there are all sorts of teapots, infusers, and other tea accessories to help you brew the perfect cup, all you really need to brew loose tea is something to hold the hot water, and a way to remove the tea leaves before they over-steep. This could be as simple as a cup with a spoon and an infuser, or something as sophisticated as a teapot with a built-in infuser, a tea measuring spoon, and a specialized timer! If you want to keep it simple, you can always choose to have your tea packaged into individual nylon sachets. Just check the option when you are creating your blend.

Can I steep my tea more than once?

Definitely! We only use high grade teas and ingredients that are suitable for multiple infusions. The exact number of infusions depends on the tea and the herbal ingredients you have chosen for your tea and your own personal taste.

How should I store my tea?

Tea easily absorbs moisture and scents, so it is best to store it in an airtight container, away from strong-smelling items. For instance, avoid storing tea in the spice cabinet. Because light can also impair the quality of tea, storage containers should be opaque (unless stored away from light). When stored properly, our products will stay fresh for up to two years. Please check the label for the expiration date of your specific blend.
